[2020 Draft] pre February-break Top 30
The Top 20 of our current rankings is freely available below.
Those who purchased the 2019 Summer Blue Dispatch have been provided the full Top 30.
This release comes right before the U18 Five Nations in Czech Republic, and while none of the players in our current top 5 will attend the tournament, the rest of the ranking is going to be immediately tested by this event.
The fact there hasn’t been a lot of movement in the top part of our list throughout the season shouldn’t be perceived as an indication that things are tentatively settled for us. At this point in fact things are still very fluid when it comes to our first-round candidates too, and bigger changes might come from here to June, when we are going to release our final Top 100 with the annual Blue Dispatch Draft Guide.
The main riser in this Top 30 is defenseman William Wallinder. The Swede offers a tantalizing package that goes beyond his remarkable frame and skating ability, and he has been showing more and more progress from last season. Even if his current effectiveness still doesn’t come close to matching his potential, the trend has been encouraging enough to assign him the first-round value his upside easily warrants.
More good news are coming from Sweden, with talented center Theodor Niederbach having as good a season as we could have hoped for after he missed the entire past season with a knee problem. Before suffering from the ailment that sidelined him for such long time, Niederbach cracked the top 5 for Sweden we released 18 months ago inside the 2018 Summer Blue Dispatch, a short list that didn’t have much room available with the likes of L.Raymond, A.Holtz and N.Gunler taking spots away.
Please note:
this is the last ranking of ours that takes into consideration players that left Europe to play the second part of the season overseas, such as Jan Mysak, Nick Malik and Martin Chromiak.
